Over the past few year budgets have been slashed for schools and the Playbuilder funds for parks and spaces have been reduced considerably. Nick Guest, the Managing Director of ahs ltd, understands the needs of the local community, and having had the fortune of success over the years with his company, Nick wanted to give something back to the community. ahs ltd decided to provide free bark to a local school, Silverdale Primary, in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex.
The school previously used a lighter grade bark as a surface for their play area, and whilst it worked for a while, it was not durable enough to cope with the needs of a school of energetic children. It soon became clear that a longer lasting playground surface solution was required to meet with their demands. Sourced from sustainable English forests, ahs ltd’s Hardwood Chips offer a long-lasting, 100% natural playground safety surface that’s both durable and attractive. As with all ahs ltds playground surfaces, it’s been tested to British Safety Standards for critical fall height.
Nick Guest, Managing Director of ahs ltd states “We understand that times are hard, but children still need a safe and enjoyable place to play, so we decided to give something back to our community by offering Silverdale School ahs’ Hardwood Playground Chips. As this product is very durable, it will give the kids a long time of energetic play. ”
Gill Knox, Silverdale Primary’s Head Teacher said “Playtime is an important part of learning, and the children enjoy their time outdoors. The Hardwood Playground Chips finish off our playground perfectly, looks great and has the added security of being safer if they fall. This couldn’t have come at a more pertinent time for us, and we’d like to thank ahs ltd for their kind contribution.”
After delivering the woodchip, representatives from the school cleared the area and simply applied to the play area, and the result was a fantastic, safe play area for the energetic children of Silverdale Primary School.
